Matt: As we have just about invited everyone that we have spoken to, to come out and visit us, I thought it might be prudent to give you a few web sites where you can find out a little more about Dubai and the U.A.E as a holiday destination.

For those of you who did not know, Kelly's Mum, the lovely Ann Pearce, is currently living in Abu Dhabi with her husband Michael. They have been there for about 3 years now. Dubai is often mistaken for the capital of the UAE but it's actually Abu Dhani that holds this title. It's about 1½ drive south from Dubai.
The states making up the UAE are: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Al Fujayrah, Ras al Khaimah, Sharjah (or Ash Shāriqah), and Umm al-Qaiwain. The states, occupying a vaguely defined area formerly known as the Pirate Coast, as well as 80 km (50 mi) of coast on the Gulf of Oman, are bordered on the north by Qatar and the Persian Gulf, on the east by the Gulf of Oman, and on the south and west by Saudi Arabia. The area of the UAE is 83,600 sq km (32,300 sq mi).
The United Arab Emirates is governed according to the constitution of 1971. Each of the seven member states has its own hereditary ruler; together they comprise the highest body of the federal government, the Supreme Council of Rulers. It elects from its members a president and vice-president. There is also a Federal National Council of 40 appointed members who review legislation, and a National Consultative Council of citizens. There are no political parties. The individual rulers of the emirates maintain their own separate local governments.
So now you know.... I'll be impressed if you can prove you read this.
